Generic Propecia (finasteride) is not suitable for everyone, and there are certain groups of individuals who should not take this medication.
1. Women: Generic Propecia is intended for use in men only. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should not handle crushed or broken Generic Propecia tablets due to the risk of absorption through the skin, which could potentially harm the developing fetus or nursing baby.
2. Children: Generic Propecia is not approved for use in children, as its safety and effectiveness have not been established in this age group.
3. Allergic reactions: Individuals who have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to finasteride or any of the ingredients in Generic Propecia should avoid taking this medication.
4. History of prostate cancer: Finasteride can interfere with prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests, potentially masking the presence of prostate cancer. Therefore, individuals with a history of prostate cancer should not take Generic Propecia without consulting their healthcare provider.
5. Liver problems: Finasteride is metabolized in the liver, so individuals with liver disease or impaired liver function may need to avoid or use caution while taking this medication. Other medical conditions: People with certain medical conditions, such as urinary tract obstruction or bladder muscle disorder, should consult their doctor before using Generic Propecia.
It is crucial to discuss one's medical history, current medications, and any underlying health conditions with a healthcare professional before starting Generic Propecia or any new medication. Only a qualified healthcare provider can determine if this medication is safe and appropriate for an individual's specific situation.

Abstract:The FDA approved the drug finasteride for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with male pattern baldness. FDA approval was based on clinical data. Results of clinical assessment are consistent with these studies. We describe the development of a drug application for the treatment of male pattern baldness. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 3 months of the drug finasteride in adult men with male pattern baldness showed a reduction in BPH symptoms and hair loss at the initial assessment. The treatment resulted in a clinically meaningful improvement in the reduction in hair density and hair loss and a reduction in the need for hair transplants. The clinical response and the number of hair transplants have been documented. There were no statistically significant improvements in the clinical effect of the drug, although there were clinically significant improvements in the appearance of enlarged prostate and/or other prostate problems. We believe this is the first clinical study to report a clinical response and the first documented improvement in BPH symptoms in men with male pattern baldness.
RCT (Randomized Controlled Trial):Finasteride (Propecia) is the only FDA-approved drug for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was performed to assess the efficacy of finasteride in the treatment of male pattern baldness. The patients were randomized to one of 3 treatment groups: 1) placebo, 2) finasteride 1 mg/day, 3) finasteride 2 mg/day, and 4) finasteride 1 mg/day. Patients were randomly assigned to receive finasteride 1 mg/day, finasteride 2 mg/day or finasteride 1 mg/day. Patients who had the greatest improvement in their hair loss with finasteride at the time of initiation of the study were also included in the study. The treatment group had a significantly higher percentage of patients who were receiving daily treatment with finasteride than with placebo. In the finasteride group, the mean change in BPH symptoms and hair loss at the initial assessment was -9.9% and -18.6%, respectively. The mean reduction in hair density and hair loss at the initial assessment was -13.5% and -27.3%, respectively. The mean reduction in hair loss was -21.6% and -31.9%, respectively. This study is the first to demonstrate a clinically meaningful effect of finasteride in the treatment of male pattern baldness in men. The clinical effect of the drug has also been documented. The clinical effect of finasteride is not reported.
Results:The treatment group showed a significant reduction in BPH symptoms (p < 0.001) compared with the placebo group. The mean change in BPH symptoms (p < 0.001) was -5.5% at the initial assessment and -9.6% at the final assessment. The mean reduction in hair density and hair loss at the initial assessment was -9.9% and -22.8%, respectively. The mean reduction in hair loss was -22.8% and -38.1%, respectively. The mean reduction in hair loss at the initial assessment was -11.3% and -31.6%, respectively. There were no statistically significant differences between finasteride and placebo. The mean change in BPH symptoms (p < 0.001) was -9.9% and -21.6%, respectively. The mean reduction in hair loss (p < 0.001) was -21.6% and -39.1%, respectively. The mean reduction in hair density (p < 0.001) was -13.5% and -27.3%, respectively. The mean reduction in hair loss (p < 0.001) was -28.9% and -40.1%, respectively.

The patent on Proscar has been extended to extend until April 1, 2022, allowing generic companies to start selling the drug in more than a dozen countries and territories. However, the patent has expired in several African countries, where it was not effective until June 2018.

A decision to suspend its sales is expected to take effect in April, with a decision to pull out all Proscar products from the market in the United States and Canada.
